Optimum tilt, true south
Your frame sits at 30 to 35 degrees facing true south, typically giving 10 to 25 per cent more output than the same panels on a compromised roof.
Ground Mounted Solar Panels is the dedicated ground-mount arm of Solar PV Panels Ireland, an SEAI-registered installer based in County Longford and working in every county in the country.
Most solar companies start with the roof because the roof is already there. We start with the site. If the roof faces east and west, is broken up by chimneys and velux windows, or is on a protected structure, then putting panels on it is a compromise before a single bolt is fixed.
A ground mounted array has none of those constraints. It is set at the pitch that suits Irish latitudes, it faces true south, it sits clear of shade, and it can be reached with a ladder rather than scaffolding when it needs cleaning or servicing. That is why we built a business around it.
Joseph Reilly is a qualified electrical contractor and the owner of Solar PV Panels Ireland. He works as an energy consultant as well as an installer, which means the conversation usually starts with your electricity bill and your daily usage pattern rather than with a panel brochure.
The office is at Kilcurry, Ballymahon, County Longford. Claire runs scheduling and paperwork, Joe runs the site work, and the same crew carries out the groundworks, the frame build, the electrical connection and the commissioning.
We survey before we quote. That means walking the ground, probing it, checking the horizon for shade, looking at where the cable run has to go, and reading your meter data. It takes longer than sending a price off a satellite photo, and it is the reason our quotes do not move once they are issued.
Straight talk on grants. The SEAI domestic solar PV grant is reviewed periodically and its value has changed more than once. We confirm what you are eligible for against the current scheme rules before you commit to anything, rather than quoting a figure that may already be out of date. Check the current values on seai.ie.

Nothing is drilled through your slate, tile or shed sheeting. Your roof warranty stays intact and there is no fixing to leak or work loose over twenty-five years.
Every panel, clamp and cable is reachable from ground level with a brush and a step. No scaffold, no roof ladder, no waiting on dry weather to check a fault.
Add a battery, an EV charger or another row of panels later without touching the existing frame. We leave the ground layout and cable route ready for a second phase.
Air moves freely behind a ground mounted panel instead of being trapped against a roof. Cooler cells hold their efficiency better through the strongest hours of a summer day.
North-facing slopes, thatch, protected structures, fragile asbestos sheeting and shaded rooftops all rule out roof solar. A frame in the field beside the house does not care.
Our own crews. Joseph Reilly is a qualified electrical contractor and the work is carried out by the team he trains, not by sub-contracted labour brought in for the week. The person who surveys your site is the person who signs off on the design.
Yes. Solar PV Panels Ireland is registered with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, which is a requirement if you intend to claim the domestic solar PV grant. We complete the grant paperwork and arrange the post-works BER assessment as part of the job.
We do. We work from Kilcurry, Ballymahon in County Longford, which is close to the geographic centre of Ireland, and we install in all 26 counties. Travel does not change the price of the system.
Ground mounts are our speciality, but we install roof-mounted systems, battery storage, inverter upgrades and EV chargers as well. If a roof is genuinely the better option for your property we will tell you so.
You call the office and we come back. Manufacturer warranties cover the panels, inverter and battery, and our own workmanship warranty covers the installation. Monitoring means we can often see a fault before you do.
Send us the address and a photo of the field or garden. We will tell you what will fit, what it should generate, and what the ground work involves before you commit to anything.
