Who we are
This website, groundmountedsolarpanels.ie, is operated by Solar PV Panels Ireland, trading as Ground Mounted Solar Panels, of Kilcurry, Ballymahon, County Longford, Ireland. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at info@groundmountedsolarpanels.ie, by phone on 043 336 2004, or by post to the address above.
What personal data we collect
We only collect what we need in order to quote for, carry out and support a solar installation.
- Contact details you give us: name, phone number, email address, site address and Eircode.
- Property and energy information: annual electricity consumption, MPRN, meter type, supply configuration, photographs of the site, and details of existing electrical or solar equipment.
- Enquiry content: whatever you write in a form, email or text message.
- Technical data collected automatically when you browse: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring page. See our Cookie Policy.
- Grant and compliance records where you apply for an SEAI grant or where an installation must be notified to ESB Networks.
Why we use it and our legal basis
We rely on the following lawful bases under Article 6 of the GDPR.
- Steps prior to entering a contract, and performance of a contract: to respond to your enquiry, survey your site, prepare a quotation, carry out the installation, and provide warranty and aftercare.
- Legal obligation: to keep records required by tax law, electrical safety regulations, grant administration and building energy rating requirements.
- Legitimate interests: to keep our records accurate, to improve the website, and to protect the site against fraud and abuse. We balance these against your rights and interests.
- Consent: for optional analytics and marketing cookies, and for any marketing email you choose to receive. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only where necessary, with:
- The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and its assessors, where you apply for a grant.
- ESB Networks, for micro-generation notification and connection applications.
- BER assessors, where a post-works assessment is required.
- Equipment manufacturers, where a warranty claim or product registration requires it.
- Our IT, hosting, email, CRM and form providers, acting as processors under contract. Our website form provider is HubSpot; where its servers are outside the European Economic Area, transfers are made under the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Our accountants and professional advisers, and public authorities where we are legally required to do so.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 24 months. Customer records are kept for the life of the installation warranty plus six years, so that we can support the system and meet our legal and tax obligations. Grant and safety records are kept for the period required by the relevant scheme. Website analytics data is retained for a maximum of 26 months.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these, email info@groundmountedsolarpanels.ie. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963, or at dataprotection.ie.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to customer records is limited to staff who need it. Devices are password protected and backups are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk.
Children
This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
